Part of me wants to slap myself for making such a big mistake.
Not that I’m into that sort of thing, but after wasting my time and taste buds at various restaurants claiming to serve “authentic Mexican cuisine”, I should punish myself some kind of way.
All the times I’ve driven right by this place and never thought to stop in is what gets me. But that’s all over because Marquez Bakery, Tortilla Factory & Restaurant on E. Division is now one of my favorite restaurants in Arlington for real mexican food.
The family owned Marquez Bakery has been a part of the Arlington scene for over 20 years. 16 of those years have been spent at their current location on E. Division near Stadium Drive.
Marquez Bakery is a bit of second heaven. Their menu is a laundry list of yummy mexican cuisine you’ll spend a few minutes surveying as your mind processes all the options. They’ve got you covered whether you’re looking for a breakfast joint, a hearty lunch or something for supper.
It may be tough to make up your mind not only because of the number of items, but realizing that everything is so darn inexpensive!
Their 16 lunch and dinner plates range from $6.50 to $8.50 and includes options like enchiladas, flautas, tamales and more. I’m a sucker for the asado and carne guisada which are super tender and full of flavor! And the tortillas are made from scratch right on site. You can also buy some and take them home with you.
Love tamales? A dozen tamales will only run ya 8 bucks!
If you have a sweet tooth, they’ve got you taken care of via their bakery. You can either add a freshly prepared pastry (tons to choose from) to your meal or make a special stop in for something. You’ll spend more time than you realize just looking at the variety of sweets through the glass in the back of the restaurant.
In fact, these guys also prepare specialty cakes for weddings, birthdays and more if you’re ever in need of that type of thing.
Delicious, reasonably priced Mexican fare and more 15 minutes or less from your front door? It’s enough to get this type of reaction from you.
They also have a few discounts. Police, Firefighters and EMTs can enjoy 1/2 price burritos between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.
Additionally, kids eat free with a purchase of an adult entrée on Tuesdays from 11 a.m – 8 p.m (dine-in).
The service is fast, the folks are always courteous, and the food? Beyond just “good” — some of the fastest, most delicious Mexican food in Arlington (and dare I say the Metroplex).
Now what are you waiting for? Head on down to Marquez Bakery, Tortilla Factory & Restaurant and see for yourself.
