Where can you go for lunch and dinner and kick yourself cause you didn’t know about the place earlier? Where you know that the owner truly is preparing your food with passion and living his dream watching you enjoy every bite?

Located across from Fire Station 3 on S. Fielder near W. Tucker Blvd, Fork in the Road is one of Arlington’s newest restaurants. Owner and chef Josh Hopkins opened Fork in the Road on December 4, 2013 (a day before icemageddon reared its ugly head).

If you’ve been around for a while you’ll know this location has a history of restaurant tenants (think Jackson’s Grill, Serrano’s Burgers and Sazon Latino). But this time, Fork in the Road has the personality, looks and grub that makes for a long stay in our city.

Hopkins is a restaurant vet that decided working for others just wasn’t in the cards for him anymore. He wanted a spot of his own where he could share the comfort and casual foods that he loves.  So Hopkins quit his gig in October 2013 and worked to open Fork in the Road in early December.  Talk about a slim timeline! But that passion for food is translated onto each plate. Fork in the Road has hit the sweet spot in bringing tasty familiar good food together at an affordable price.

Now let’s get something straight if you’ve never been to Fork in the Road – this isn’t a big place. With about nine tables (each with unique tabletops made by Hopkins himself) of two or four chairs at each, you’re not going to host a banquet here. But that’s part of this place’s charm. It’s a small joint that provides the opportunity for you to chat with your neighbors as you stare at the chalkboard menu deciding what to eat if you so desire.

And the community has taken notice as Fork in the Road already has plenty of crowd faves like:

  • The Gorilla Biscuit – a flour tortilla loaded with griddled ham, corned beef, salami, lettuce, tomato & chipotle mayo
  • Jimmy’s S&P – spicy Italian sausage with bell peppers, onions and provolone cheese served on a ciabatta bun
  • Crackaroni – three-cheese macaroni and cheese with truffle oil.

Fork in the Road is also serving big burgers (also serves a burger of the week), soups, salads and lots more sandwiches (all served with fries). Kids will be taken care of with their kid’s menu. Sodas are all bottled which is a cool touch. We predict that a quick glance at their menu will provoke plenty of stomach growls.

Wanna grab lunch at Fork in the Road? Get there early as you’re not going to be the only one that has a hankering for their food on their break. This is truly a testament to how good they are.

Sometimes when we’re hungry, it means a trip to the national chain restaurant or fast food joint for familiar grub we’ve had a thousand times. But next time you need a bite prepared in someone else’s kitchen, consider Fork in the Road. The food will not disappoint and you’re supporting someone who took a chance to start his own business in Arlington. What could be better than that?
