I was shocked.

I think you will be stunned, too.

I’m the parent of two young kids. The primary reason my family stayed in Arlington when we sold our house a few years ago was because we thought it was a great place to raise our kids.

When I chat with other young families, they tell me that’s a big reason they moved to Arlington as well.

Here’s some news from a recent study that has a drastically different view of Arlington when it comes to places to live for young families.

Arlington ranks #98 in the state in NerdWallet.com’s study on the best cities in Texas for young families. 111 cities, towns and census-designated places with a population of over 25,000 residents were included in the study.

The NerdWallet.com study was based on the following factors:

  • Public school excellence
  • Home affordability
  • Growth and prosperity

In case you’re curious, here are the top 1o ranking cities on the list:

  1. Frisco
  2. Friendswood
  3. Allen
  4. Burleson
  5. Mansfield
  6. Sugar Land
  7. Keller
  8. Wylie
