You want to begin your day with a bang.

The best way to do that is by having breakfast. Since you need good grub to power you through your hectic schedule, I recommend you saddle up and head down to Oldwest Cafe.

Open in Arlington since August, residents have been flocking to Oldwest Cafe to get their forks on some serious comfort food.

If you’re thinking the restaurant name sounds familiar, it should. Oldwest Cafe has five DFW locations. The first location opened in Sanger over a decade ago as owners Carolyn and Matt Rollins grew tired of the corporate world. They wanted to cook made-from-scratch food that they loved to locals. Since then, Oldwest Cafe has opened in Denton, Grapevine, Bedford and most recently, Arlington.

6 Shooter
6 Shooter

One step into Oldwest Cafe and you’ll notice it reflects the days of the old west. It is outfitted with a dark and rustic theme and dominated by wood. Even the names of the menu items carry the theme.

Speaking of the menu, a quick glance will bring you one step closer to plenty of your breakfast faves. The pancakes are ridiculously large and hang off the plate. Omelet lovers will find 10 options to choose from made with either three or four eggs. Lemon blueberry pancakes and cinnamon crisp french toast are a few crowd favorites if you’re looking for what’s popular.

Want to try something a bit different? Their 6 Shooter may be for you. It’s a combination of two open-faced biscuits smothered in sausage gravy, topped with chicken fried steak and two eggs (served with a side item). You’ll be loosening the belt a notch or two afterwards if you attempt to tackle it.

If you’re searching for healthier alternatives, Oldwest Cafe offers six options including fresh fruit, egg white omelets, oatmeal and yogurt parfait.

In addition to breakfast, Oldwest Cafe also has a robust lunch menu. It includes plenty of down-home goodness like fried chicken, sandwiches, salads, meatloaf and more.

With a friendly staff, affordable prices and a focus on made-from-scratch comfort food, you’ll want to round up your crew and check out Oldwest Cafe sooner rather than later.
