As you’ve probably learned about us, we love living in Arlington. We’ve shared our opinions about why Arlington is a great place to live and purchase a home. Additionally, we’ve highlighted various livability studies that rank Arlington as a wonderful city for home ownership.
If you are considering purchasing a home, it can be helpful to get feedback from a homeowner. Learning about their journey to homeownership may shed light on things you should consider.
As part of a new series on Arlington Texas Today, we want to share the stories of new Arlington homeowners. Since all journeys to homeownership are unique, we feel this will be a great way to showcase the process and emotions that come with buying a house in Arlington.
Today’s featured new homeowner is Anna H. Anna recently purchased a home in Arlington and agreed to share her thoughts and experience with us.
The following questions and answers are excerpts from our interview with Anna.
ATT: Tell us about yourself.
AH: I am a mother of two wonderful kids. I am currently taking full-time online college courses to complete my degree in Criminology and Forensics. I am a licensed cosmetologist and I make house calls to special needs families and scheduled clientele when I have the time. I aspire to become a police officer in the very near future and my long-term goal is to become a police detective.
ATT: Why did you select Arlington as a place to purchase a home?
AH: Arlington is just a beautiful city! Aside from a great location that fits my lifestyle, my father and my sisters live in Arlington so I knew I wanted to stay close. The most important amenity was the school district my kids would be attending. A plus (for me) was to have a pool. I was blessed with both! My kids remained in the same school and we have a home with a pool for us all to enjoy in southwest Arlington.
ATT: What was your experience like working with your Realtor?
AH: It was fun and professional. Keela (McGraw) is very knowledgeable. Keela respected my wishes and what I was looking for. Most importantly I felt like Keela wanted to help me find a home. She is passionate about her work and she was truly dedicated to me and my family. Keela made me feel optimistic. I had so many questions due to this being my first time purchasing a home. She always kept the communication between us open and welcoming at any time of the day. She presented the absolute perfect home for us. Thank you so much Keela!
ATT: What surprised you most about the home buying process?
AH: What surprised me most was how smoothly everything went during the buying process. Keela also has great connections with lenders in which I was referred to by her due to a last minute change of circumstances. I was honored to have Keela by my side at the time of closing, she explained certain things to me during the entire process.
ATT: What’s the #1 piece of advice you would give someone thinking about purchasing a home?
AH: To make sure they are financially secure and to call Keela McGraw! I am still amazed and very thankful on how professional and great my experience went with working with Keela.
