Burgers in Arlington: Twisted Root Burger Co.

Twisted Root Burger Co., located at 310 E Abram St #100 in Downtown Arlington, is a favorite selection among locals. The local chain of burger joints started off in Dallas and made its way to Arlington a couple of years ago.

Twisted Root is said by many to have Arlington’s best burgers. I guess if you’re featured on Food Network’s Diners, Drive-ins and Dives with Guy Fieri, you’re doing something right. Making a better burger is what Jason Boso and Quincy Hart (who are also trained chefs) do best and started over six years ago. They say the burgers are like the one’s they’d make at home.

Part of Twisted Root’s lure is there’s something for everyone regardless of your preferences. Beef, turkey, black bean veggie, and even buffalo meat are options to build your burger. Each half-pound burger is cooked medium well (speak up if that’s not your thing) and comes with with lettuce, tomato and onions. The gang creates a special Burger of the Month each month (check the menu board), so there’s always something new to try. In addition, the menu features 12 different pre-configured burgers to help you out or you can just create your own from your wildest imagination.

Like pickles? These guys even have a pickle bar with flavors ranging from bread & butter to atomic that you have to check out. Plus, they make their own condiments that you’ll find on the tables when you sit down to grub.

The locals rave about their ice cream, which was developed by pastry chef Steve Thompson (yup, a burger joint has a pastry chef). And the root beer floats are legendary.

We’ve gotten this far and haven’t even mentioned the atmosphere. It’s a quirky spot with truck tailgates on the wall, an RV for a bar where you can get a variety of cold beers, and mismatch chairs throughout. Oh, and if you’re heading for a weekend night burger, expect a line of hungry burger cravers. But don’t worry. These guys move fast.

Whatever you get from Twisted Root, you’ll probably raise you eyebrows as if to say, “wow, that’s pretty good.” With the resurgence of the Downtown Arlington scene, we know restaurants aren’t gonna last long if they don’t offer great food and service.
