If indie coffee shops, artisanal foods, and a relaxed atmosphere get your blood pumping, your next move should be to Savor Coffee Bar and Eatery.
Formerly Mochalux Coffee & Tea Co., owner Uyen Holderman had a mission in mind when deciding to overhaul the coffee shop which reopened at the end of March.
Her goal: create a spacious, reinvigorated neighborhood coffee shop that got back to basics and invited patrons to linger while enjoying locally-sourced, higher-quality food and beverages. The goal was so important, in addition to a total interior redesign, the employees attended Texas Coffee School in Arlington to sharpen their barista skills.
The result is a pared-down menu of espresso, hot or iced drips, lattes and new signature drinks. Oak Cliff Coffee Roasters is the coffee of choice used in Savor’s caffeinated drinks. Beyond traditional coffee beverages, popular choices include:
- Ten-Two-Four – Cane sugar Dr. Pepper served with espresso and ice ($3.50/$3.75)
- Frozen Horchatta – Classic spanish/mexican recipe, blended and caffeine free ($3.85/$3.95)
- Artisan Mocha – Gahana single origin dark chocolate, expresso and steamed milk ($2.75/$3/$3.75)
Tea lovers can opt for an assortment of Rishi tea.
You can fuel up with food perfect for breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner. With everything made in-house, popular items include:
- The Bearcat – slow-cooked shredded pork tenderloin, sriracha mayo, cucumber slices, sliced jalapeño, cabbage and herb slaw and pickled daikon and carrots ($9.95)
- The Big Shot – scrambled egg, bourbon bacon, ham and melted cheese in a crepe topped with parmesan cream sauce ($9.95)
- The Speakeasy – Mixed spring greens, candied pecans, goat cheese, grape tomatoes, and thinly sliced red onion served with balsamic-coffee vinaigrette ($6.95)
- Blueberry Crumble Muffin ($2)
- Almond-Flour Banana Muffin ($3.25)
Health-conscious foodies will be happy to know plenty of gluten-free and vegetarian options are available and clearly identified on the menu.
The revamped space has a fresh and refined style with soothing music soundtracking your experience. There is plenty of room to relax while you grub. Customers can use free WiFi to crank out some work or kill time searching for the latest hilarious internet meme.
Replacing the open mic nights Mochalux was known for, Savor will bring in local artists to provide live entertainment on weekends.
If you’re looking for gluten-free, vegetarian-friendly eateries and/or a warm coffee shop that gets back to basics, you will savor the experience at Savor.
