It’s more than mere updates on what people you don’t care about had for dinner. Or celebrities spamming us with stuff they want us to do/watch/buy.
It’s a great way to stay updated on what’s happening in Arlington.
As someone who has used Twitter since 2009, I know the key is only following accounts that provide you value.

Formally Experience Arlington, the newly-renamed Arlington Convention & Visitors Bureau’s Twitter account is just as much for Arlington residents as it is for out-of-towners. Refreshed with a new name and logo, it still exists to provide an insider’s guide to what’s happening around town.

There’s a heck of a lot of talk about the future of downtown Arlington. The Downtown Arlington Management Corporation’s Twitter account helps you stay informed and get info on events, businesses and activities in our city’s center.

Arlington’s Police Department has been nationally-recognized for their innovative use of social media. The department uses Twitter to share news, public safety information, traffic alerts and local event information. In addition, they created the widely-adopted “tweetalongs.” Tweetalongs give Twitter followers an opportunity to receive information about what an officer experiences on a patrol shift in real time through photos and text updates.
