Metro ArlingtonXpress (MAX): A Rider’s Guide

1962fr.St.58There’s so many reasons we spend so much time in Arlington. We work here. We live here. We play here.

We love it here!

But let’s say you want to get out of the city limits and explore other events and attractions in the DFW Metroplex.

Maybe you’re unable to drive so that throws a wrench in your plans. Or battling traffic behind the wheel is just not appealing so you don’t do as much as you would like outside of Arlington.

Or maybe rising gas prices for your work commute are frustrating you and you’d love a cheaper option.

What can you do? Well you can catch a ride on the Metro ArlingtonXpress, or commonly referred to as the ‘MAX’.

Beginning August 19th and for a roundtrip price of $5/day (or $80/month), Metro ArlingtonXpress buses will travel between the TRE CentrePort/DFW Airport Station and College Park Center at UT Arlington. From CentrePort/DFW Airport Station, riders access any DART bus or train or T bus to travel to Dallas or Fort Worth.

The MAX is a two-year pilot program and the following folks have come together to make it happen:

  • City of Arlington
  • DART
  • Trinity Railway Express
  • The T
  • Arlington Chamber of Commerce
  • University of Texas at Arlington

You may have heard about it around town. Here’s a few details on the Metro ArlingtonXpress to see if it’s a good fit for you.

What are the schedules?

The current schedule is Monday through Friday from approximately 6:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. There aren’t any current weekend schedules but who knows. If the demand is there, things may change.

Hop over to the MAX service times page to see pick up and drop off times between locations. I was pleasantly surprised to see how many options travelers have. For example, the MAX will travel from the College Park Center to TRE CentrePort/DFW Airport Station 18 times a day.

Can I get a Metro ArlingtonXpress discount fare?

Maybe. Disabled riders, seniors, students and children are eligible for MAX discounts.

Disabled riders: Daily and monthly passes are half price with a valid photo id or Medicare card.

Students: High school and college students ride for half price.

Seniors: Seniors 65+ ride for half price.

Children: Kids under 5 ride for free with parent/guardian. Children ages 5-14 ride for half price

Students and seniors ages 65+ will need a DART or T photo ID to access reduced rates.

Sounds good but do I have to pay for parking?

Free parking is available on the College Park Center’s North Parking Garage top deck free parking in the First Baptist Church surface lot at the southeast corner of Center and UTA Blvd (Border Street) and at the TRE CentrePort/DFW Airport Station. Keep in mind that this is daily parking. No overnight parking is available at the TRE CentrePort/DFW Airport Station.
