Arlington has more than it’s fair share of clothing resale & consignment shops. They’re the ideal places to unload your closet, trade-in (or even sell!) your don’t-wants and make room in your closet for the must-haves. Here’s a few to get you started.
Uptown Cheapskate
Located across from the Parks at Arlington Mall, Uptown Cheapskate is the new kid on the Arlington block. Opening in late June, it’s a great place for the student or 20-something to get the latest trendy threads. They provide an awesome guide for what types of men’s and women’s clothes they look to buy. Geared toward today’s trends (think thin-lapel blazers, skinny jeans, designer bags, etc), bring your stuff in and get up to 40% in cash of what they’ll price it for in the store. Add 25% if you’re cool with receiving store credit.

Stylin’ Around
Located in Lincoln Square, Stylin’ Around, is a bit more geared toward the teen or young adult. Just bring in your — guy or gal — clothing, shoes, and accessories. They’ll offer you a cash (sale) or in-store credit price for your goods. Keep in mind that the items at Stylin’ Around are all generally in very good condition. They’re pretty picky about what they take!

Clothes Mentor
Sorry guys but Clothes Mentor is a ladies only shop. Ladies are fans of this place because they look to buy items and brands that are have been in stores in the last 1-2 years. That gives you some wiggle room in what you can sell from your closet. They use a matrix (not the movie) to determine how much they’ll give you in cash for your clothes and accessories. Typically, they sell items for around 1/3 of the original retail price and they pay you approximately 1/3 of what they will sell it for.

Plato’s Closet
Like Stylin’ Around, Plato’s Closet focuses on teen and young adult fashions. It’s a great place to do wardrobe swaps. Just bring in your old-to-you stuff. They’ll sort through your selections and offer you two prices for what they’d like to keep: a cash price for sale and an in-store credit price. Take a look at their website for the top five things they are looking to buy. This way, you’ll maximize your sell. They sell both guys and gals clothing, so guys — don’t miss out!
