4 Restaurants Serving the Best Fried Chicken in Arlington

Where do you find the best fried chicken in Arlington?

It was an innocent question we recently received from an Arlington newbie.

Sure, there’s plenty of common chain restaurants to pick up some fried bird. But lucky for us, there’s also a few places serving the popular poultry in a way that would make grandma and her cast iron skillet proud.

Here are 4 local restaurants we recommend when you are in serious need of great fried chicken.

Sistah’s Mississippi Style BBQ

We recently gave you a heads up about Sistah’s Mississippi Style BBQ. And from your responses, you’ve either tried them and love the food or it’s on your to-eat list. If you haven’t been yet and are a fan of fried chicken, owners Faye and Barbara are doing great things with their take on the bird. Dredged in a seasoned flour mixture then fried, Sistah’s chicken is full of flavor, very moist and a great entrée to their host of southern sides and desserts. 1420 W. Arkansas Lane

Babe’s Chicken Dinner House

Babe’s Chicken Dinner House got its start in Roanoke 21 years ago (although their first restaurant, Bubba’s, opened in ’81). Thankfully in 2010, Babe’s opened a location in downtown Arlington next to Arlington Music Hall. Owner Paul Vinyard and his fried chicken have legions of fans throughout the metroplex. The recipe, which hasn’t changed since developed 70 years ago in west Texas, relies on deep-frying the chicken so it is cooked fast to prevent greasiness.

Lisa’s Chicken

Cheap. Fast. Good. With two Arlington locations (and a few more in Fort Worth) Lisa’s Chicken is a common stop for locals craving poultry. And we see why. The chicken is cooked perfectly, moist and packs plenty of flavor. 1601 W Division St and 1808 W Pioneer Pkwy

Chop House Steak & Seafood (UPDATE: Now Closed)

Kenny Mills is a well-known guy around town. Most people are very familiar with his Chop House Burgers. But right down the street in Pantego, you’ll find his Chop House Steak & Seafood restaurant. In 2013, Mills decided to do something different with fried chicken which they refer to as Back Door Chicken (because literally, you can only get it is at the back door of the restaurant). It starts in the oven covered with bacon fat and simmers for an hour. Then, they bread it and fry it in a mixture of bacon and canola oil. The order ($20) comes with eight pieces of chicken, mashed potatoes, cream gravy, corn cob and jalapeño cheddar biscuits.  2230 W. Park Row suite A
